Abstract

The project implies in a research on some collections from European archives, texts, dramas and essays written by Edward Gordon Craig (1872-1966), and designs, etchings, models and photos of performances staged by him between 1900 and 1930, period in which the artist worked intensely in the main theatrical circuits of Europe. This punctual incursion will happen in four archives situated in France, two, and in England, two, during 90 days from August 2013, and is inscribed in a larger project of translation for the Portuguese of more than hundred Craig's texts never translated before, and editing of a book with a presentation essay situating his theoretical and artistic work toward the contemporary scene. In France, the two archives to be visited are the ones located in the French National Library, in Paris, and that one from the International Institute of Marionette, in Charleville-Mérzière. In England it will be prospected the archive of the Department of Theatre and Performance from V&A Museum, in London, and the archive o Eton College, in Windsor. (AU)
