Abstract

Products based on calcium stands out among the materials used as compounds of endodontic sealers for presenting properties good biological properties. Studies show that the composition of the endodontic sealers can be changed to improve their biological and chemico-physical properties. Hypothesis: the experimental cements present chemico-physical and biological properties that would indicate their use to endodontic treatment. Purpose: to develop and to evaluate chemico-physical and biological properties of nine experimental sealers based on MTA. Materials and Methods: the materials will be divided in two groups. For group 1, will be developed three materials. The base paste will be made by bismuth oxide and butyl ethylene glycol disalicylate. Three different catalyst pastes will be formulated containing Resimpol 8, TiO2 and MTA or MTA + hydroxyapatite (HA) or MTA + dibasic calcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD). MTA Fillapex (Angelus) will be used as control. For group 2, six sealers will be developed. The paste A will be composed by Bis-EMA 10, Bis-EMA 30, DHEPT, EDAB, CQ and MTA or MTA + HA or MTA + DCPD. The paste B made by ytterbium fluoride, Bis-EMA 10, Bis-EMA 30 and benzoyl peroxidewith or without chlorhexidine. W-MTA will be used as control. Viscosity, working and setting times, water absorption, sorption and solubility, pH, calcium release, radiopacity, degree of conversion, diametral tensile strength and cytotoxicity will be analyzed for all samples. The data will be submitted to appropriate statistical analysis for each case.
