Abstract

Ada Gobetti, born in Turin in 1902, besides being a writer was also a teacher, organizer of the Partito d'Azione and of the group Giustizia e Libertà, Deputy Mayor of Turin, engaged in social activities, collaborator of magazines, and translator. The research intends, from the autobiographical work of the author, to integrate historical aspects like the Resistance and the women's role in the fight against the German occupation in Italy in the 1940s, in order to analyze aspects of the memoiristic discourse in the form of a diary, with the support of theories like that of the collective biography, of the organic intellectual and of the micro-history. Also, one of the objectives is to translate significant fragments of the diary aiming at the publication of the excerpts. Our object of study is Diario Partigiano, the militant diary published in 1956 and composed based on the annotation made by the author in English during the Resistance Years (from 1943 to 1945). The text narrates the participation of Ada Gobetti in the partigiano actions, with details about the clandestine character, the imprisonments, the tortures and deaths suffered by the civilians that liberated several regions of Italy, especially after the so-called "forty-five Badogliani days" (from July 25th, 1943, date of the deposition and incarceration of Mussolini until the "short armistice" of September 3rd, 1943, made public on September 8th) and the subsequent division of the country, with the South freed by the Allies and the North occupied by the German forces.(AU)
