The present project focus on the study of instabilities in diffusion flames established in a porous inert medium. Through a linear stability analysis, we intend to analyze, theoretically, the existence and onset of cellular/pulsating diffusion flames in a porous inert medium. We consider a one-step chemical reaction and a large activation energy limit. Aiming to analyze only the instability effects, without the considerations of stretch and curvature, a one-dimensional model is considered. This project was born of the possibility of cooperation with Prof. Matalon, from the University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaing, author of several works regarding combustion theory, including several instability analyses on premixed and diffusion flames.
