Abstract

The development of new processes and the search for new materials is essential for obtaining phosphors containing lanthanide ions that efficiently absorb radiation in the ultraviolet region and emit in the visible region. The addition of ions that can promote the transfer of energy to the lanthanide ions and intensify the emission is one of the possible resources to be used. The one Bi III ions is a potential candidate to sensitize Eu III ions in yttrium vanadate matrix, transferring the energy absorbed and intensifying the luminescent emission. This project aims to demand Bepe (in portuguese: Bolsa Estágio de Pesquisa no Exterior) in CEMES (Centre d'Elaboration of Matériaux et d'Etudes Structurales - UPR 8011 - CNRS), Toulouse - France, between September 1, 2013 and January 1, 2014, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Marc Verelst. The current PhD project being developed at the University of Franca, seeks among other objectives, obtain crystals of yttrium vanadate doped bismuth III and europium III ions by the sol gel route nonhydrolytic, studying the properties of energy transfer between both ions, enabling the intensification luminescence in this material. In this context, the stage outside these aims at obtaining crystals by means of two processes: pyrolysis aerosol and non-hydrolytic sol gel route, by studying their structural, morphological and spectroscopic, which may interfere with the process of energy transfer and luminescence of the material.
