Chemical study and evaluation of biological activity of leaves extract ethanolic Guatteria australis

Abstract

This project aims to study the chemical and evaluation of the biological activity of the ethanol extract from the leaves of Guatteria australis (Annonaceae). To do so, it will proceed appropriateness of methodology in vitro biological assays and antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (PDT) antimicrobial (against bacteria and fungi), as well as the development of analytical procedures, including the phytochemical study monitored by absorption analysis in the visible region of interest in PDT (600 to 850 nm), to assess the efficiency of photochemical 1,3-DPBF for analysis by ESI-MS and by bioassays. The phytochemical study will be conducted employing various chromatographic methods and substances isolated and purified will perform structural elucidation using spectroscopic analysis (IR, UV-vis, NMR, and Mass). The evaluation of the photochemical efficiency of this plant extract and fractions by 1,3-DPBF and the study for the search of bioactive compounds aiming for possible application in PDT are unprecedented. Thus, it will perform the study for the exploration of chemical and pharmacological molecules with potential application in PDT, a promising technology for the treatment of topical infections, inflammation, cancer, and for the topical treatment of diseases caused by bacteria and fungi.
