Abstract

This paper proposes the use of commercial isoamyl alcohol for synthesis of an organic carbonate through the capture and fixation of carbon dioxide, using the amidines, 1,8-di-azabicicloundeceno (DBU) and 1,5-di-azabiciclononeno (DBN) as catalyst bases. Besides reducing the environmental impacts, the formation of carbonate is of great importance for different industries, primarily as solvents, intermediates for pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. Work will be carried out in two stages, the reaction of isoamyl alcohol with carbon dioxide with the formation of carbonate ion intermediate and then the reaction of this intermediate arquilação O-alkylating agents for CO2 fixation. To confirm the synthesis of carbonates synthesized spectroscopy techniques will be used in the region of Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS). This project is inserted in Laboratório de Química Orgânica Fina, FCT-UNESP, campus of Presidente Prudente, which provides an equipped laboratory and researchers already working in this research area.(AU)
