Abstract

Non-specific low back pain is a common condition in the clinical practice of primary care health professionals. There is a growing interest in the literature regarding the treatment of low back pain guided by the classification into subgroups. The Örebro Musculoskeletal Pain Screening Questionnaire is a questionnaire that classifies patients with low back pain in low, medium, and high risk. This instrument enables the screening of patients and indicates the best treatment based on scientific evidence for each subgroup. Several studies have demonstrated the usefulness of the instrument both in scientific research and in clinical practice. There is a need to develop a short version that requires lower application time. The objective of this study is to develop and evaluate the measurement properties of the short version of the Örebro Musculoskeletal Pain Screening Questionnaire in brazilian-portuguese version. The short version of the instrument will be extracted from the data of 130 patients. Two items that have demonstrated predictive power after a factor analysis will be chosen for each domain. Then the values of the domains will be compared to the values of the original questionnaire using Pearson's correlation and also by analyzing the ROC curve. The availability of a short version of the questionnaire in brazilian-portuguese, which demands a lower application time for clinicians and researchers, would contribute to a better understanding of the treatment of low back pain, allowing its use for better assessment and treatment of patients with low back pain in primary care.(AU)
