Abstract

The main aim of this study is to investigate whether there is a direct relationship between age, in which the seizure is induced, and the transcript levels of il1b gene. To achieve this objective, seizures will be evoked by Pentylenetetrazole in zebrafish at 15 and 30 days post-fertilization, and the brain transcript levels quantified by Real-Time PCR. This study is part of a larger project that objectives to analyze the temporal transcript pattern of il1b gene at seven days post-fertilization, as well as investigate the neuronal loss, in zebrafish brains after a seizure. Certainly, the knowledge obtained from this study will contribute to better characterizing the zebrafish as a model for epilepsy studies.(AU)
