The research Presença de romances no Diário do Rio de Janeiro (1844-1878), developed in Brazil and directed by Prof. Dr. Márcia Abreu, aims to analyze the presence of novels in Rio de Janeiro, especially on critical texts. During the first months of research, I dedicated myself to reading the research already conducted on this topic by the researchers Leandro de Almeida Thomaz, Hebe Cristina da Silva, Valeria Cristina and Bezerra de Seixas Hélio Guimarães about the authors: Joaquim Manuel de Macedo, Souza Teixeira, José de Alencar and Machado de Assis. The data collected in these studies were entered in the project database. Then I began to search for listings and critical texts published in the journal Diário do Rio de Janeiro, research which I am going to deal in the next scholarship months. The purpose of the trip to Paris is to enhance the development of the project of Undergraduate Research and collaborate on information to the project. The purpose is to identify the most outstanding novels and critical texts published in journals based on the literature analysis on the major novels in circulation in France during the "long nineteenth century" (1789-1914), as well as all of their critiques. Gathering this type of data is crucial to understand the process of circulation of printed material and ideas between Portugal, France, England and Brazil. (AU)
