Abstract

The Bothrops are responsible for the largest number of snakebites in Brazil presenting serious systemic effects in addition to inducing a pathophysiological framework characterized by local reactions such as hemorrhage, edema, myonecrosis and intense pain. The antivenom is still the only effective therapeutic measure for Bothrops snakebites. However, the venom, despite its effective action on the systemic framework, hardly neutralize local reactions. For this reason the demand to bring alternative approaches usually employed has been the target of interest and constitute the relevant measures for neutralization and / or decrease the degenerative effects as well as the acceleration of the regenerative process. Treatment with low level laser (LLL) has been introduced into clinical practice for the treatment of inflammatory disorders of various origins. Moreover, data obtained by our group demonstrated that LLL reduces the formation of edema and hemorrhage induced by injection of venom B. moojeni myotoxins isolated and two of venom. This study aims to assess the mechanism of anti-inflammatory action of LLL on local reaction caused by the venom of B. moojeni. So, will assess the effect of therapy on LBP and thermal hypersensitivity of the animals by means of in vivo models for evaluation of pain sensitivity. For an understanding of the mechanisms involved in the effect of LLL will be assessed the activation of glial cells and the expression of inflammatory cytokines (IL1, IL6 and IL10) and the involvement of bradykinin in this effect. Thus, this study will better understand the pathophysiological effects observed in the local effect of the envenenomation B. moojeni, therapeutic measures and to promote more efficient and / or complementary
