Transcultural Adaptation and Assessment of Measure Properties of Portuguese-Brazilian version of the Örebro Musculoskeletal Pain Screening Questionnaire (ÖMPSQ)

Abstract

The non-specific low back pain is a common condition in clinical practice of health care professionals in primary care. There is a growing interest in the literature regarding the treatment of low back pain guided by classification into subgroups. The instrument Örebro Musculoeskeletal Pain Screening Questionnaire is a questionnaire that classifies low back pain patients into low, medium and high risk. This instrument may allow the screening of patients and indicate the best treatment based on scientific evidence for each subgroup. The aim of this study is to translate, culturally adapt and test the measurement properties of the Brazilian-Portuguese version of the Örebro Musculoeskeletal Pain Screening Questionnaire. The study will be divided into two parts. The first involves the process of translation and cultural adaptation. In the second part, the measurement properties of the adapted version will be tested in 100 patients with non-specific low back pain. The following questionnaires will be used: Örebro Musculoeskeletal Pain Screening Questionnaire, Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire, Numeric Pain Rating Scale and Tampa Scale of Kinesiofobia for the first day of therapy the patient and on his return (two to seven days after). So is it possible to analyze the internal consistency, reproducibility, construct validity and effects of roof and floor of the Brazilian-Portuguese version of the Örebro Musculoeskeletal Pain Screening Questionnaire. The availability of this questionnaire in Portuguese-Brazilian to clinicians and researchers can collaborate to better understand the treatment of low back pain, allowing its use for a better evaluation and treatment of patients with low back pain in primary care.
