Abstract

The present study aims evaluated the alveolar bone pattern through panoramic radiomorphometric index and measures achieve in periapical radiographs, further on leptin analysis as biomarker in obese morbid patients. The sample will be consisted of 60 women between 20 to 35 years old, been divided in two clusters: Experimental cluster (EC- Obesity Level III, BMI>40Kg/m2) and control cluster (CC- Eutrophic, BMI 18,5 to 24,99Kg/m2). The periodontal condition oh this patients will be evaluated through Turesky's plaque index, probing deep, bleeding gingival index and clinical attachment level. The bone pattern will be evaluate through radiographic analysis: 2 periapicais of mandibular posterior regions (right and left) been evaluated the trabecular pattern and the distance between cement-enamel junction to bone crest; panoramic radiographic analysis through radiomorphometric index; and leptin biomarker analysis. The samples of unstimulated saliva are collected to determine the concentration of leptin, which will be analyzed by ELISA. It will be applied OHIP-14 questionnaire will be used to assess the impact of oral health on quality of life. Student's assay "t" and Chi-Square will be adopted for comparisons between the clusters. Previous studies achieved by this research group identified that periodontal disease has getting worst after the bariatric surgery (Fapesp process 2008/05798-2 e 2008/00240-3). Therefore, evaluate the alveolar bone pattern in morbid obese become relevant, for reduce the collateral effects in the post bariatric surgery. In the present study will be evaluate the bone pattern adopted as biomarker: the leptin
