The velocity of the formation of impact craters as well as their scales do not allow the real observation of this type of event. In this sense, researchers of various nationalities have developed in recent decades computer programs capable of representing the cratering process with the aid of geological and geophysical information available. These programs are implemented through mathematical algorithms that can express the target deformation occurred in the rocks, since contact-stage until the complete gravitational stabilization of the affected rocks. In particular, a program is known among scientists due its consistency and dimensional results for its innovation in three-dimensional oblique impact tests: iSALE (Simplified Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian). On the Earth 182 impact structure are known, and 6 are localized in Brazil: Araguainha (MT-GO), Vargeão (SC), Serra da Cangalha (TO), Riachão (MA), Vista Alegre (PR) e Cerro do Jarau (RS). Our Brazilian research group has accumulated geological knowledge of these craters, which will be applied in this project to carry out numerical modeling structures Araguainha, and Riachão Vargeão with the program iSALE-2D. For the Serra da Cangalha impact strucuture models will be matched with iSALE-3D, completing the analysis carried out in the tenderer's PhD with the 2D program version. This project began in July 2012 with the numerical modeling of the Araguainha impact structure. A most detailed model for this crater is still necessary as well a better-understanding concerning the tools and functions of the program. Then, we propose to improve the models already matched with help of the iSALE's developers in Germany, and additionally to match the models for the remaining impact craters here proposed. The activities will be held at the Museum für Naturkunde, in Berlin, under supervision of Kai Wünnemann, one of the iSALE's developers. (AU)
