One of the most fascinating questions in Biology is to understand the process of origin and diversification of taxa. Hypotheses about this process have been proposed, but there is no consensus on which one could be the most important. The Atlantic forest is a megadiverse and highly endangered biome where not enough of such studies have been performed. The aim of the present project is to compare the phylogeographic structure of two passerine birds, Dendrocincla turdina and Drymophila squamata. Both taxa are endemic to the Atlantic forest low lands and we want to investigate whether the same historical factors affected equally their population genetic structures.
