Abstract

It is known that the biological response and the success of an implant depend on the physicochemical and biological properties of its surface, and as Ti and its alloys are considered bioinertes materials, becomes necessary to use methods of surface modification to improve the biological activity of these materials and promote bone formation. Recently, it has been found that the formation of TiO2 nanotube layers on biomedical titanium alloys can improve the osseointegration of the implants. Therefore, the aim of this project is to perform surface modifications on pure Ti (grade II) and on newly developed biomedical Ti-15Mo alloy (ASTM F2066-08), optimizing the experimental conditions for obtaining, by electrochemical anodization, nanotubes with different diameters and geometries for applications in implants.(AU)
