Abstract

Among the toxic elelemnts introduced in soil by antrophic activities is barium. Its indesirable effects on human health and environment have motivared research work lately, since litle information is available concernig to its bioavailability. The preset work aims to evaluate the performance of several extracting solutions to reflect barium avaialibility in a soil previously contaminated with variable ratios of this element (150, 300 e 600 mg kg-1), using BaSO4 or BaCl2, and cultivated with sorghum. BArium will be submited to the follolwing extracting solutions: melich-3, ammoinum chloride 1 mol/L, hydrocloric acid 0,1 mol/L, ammonium acetate (pH 7.0), calcium chloride 0,01 mol/L, adn to de mixed ion exchange resin. The extacted barium will be correlate with its contents exctracted by rice cultivated in a Nuebauer & Scheider experiment.
