Abstract

Direct reprogramming generates induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) with similar molecular proles and developmental potential of embryonic stem cells (ESCs); however, several studies have suggested that subtle differences in gene expression or chromatin modications yield iPS cell lines with reduced pluripotency when compared to ESCs. To harness the full potential of iPSC technology, it is important to understand the mechanisms underlying these questions. The canine model is especially important to address the potential use of these cells in regenerative medicine once it provides trustful information derived from several natural disease models. Therefore, the aim of this study is to dissect the cellular mechanisms involved in pluripotency in dogs for the establishment of iPS cells, in addition to the development of genome editing techniques, that can be used for cell therapy and other purposes (AU)
