Introduction: Medroxyprogesterone Acetate deposit (AMP-D) has been usedlong as contraception. In the literature there are numerous studiescorrelating the use of D-AMP and bone mineral density (BMD). thesestudies showed decreased BMD in the first year of use, and the gainweight, but were not identified studies to evaluate ways to reduce theadverse effects caused by use of D-AMP. The lifestyle, a diet richcalcium and orientations for sun bathing production of vitamin D related tophysical activity impact, are proven methods to reduce the loss ofBMD. However, there are few data recommendations for womenusers of contraceptive methods. Thus, this project proposes to evaluate theBMD of users of different style of life, to establish methods to reduceadverse effects caused by the continued use of long-term AMP-D. The stageproposed abroad, collaborating center for research in reproductive healthWorld Health Organization (WHO), the Karolinska Institute in Sweden is an extensionthe research project already approved and funded by FAPESP / PPSUS No. 09/53293-0.
