The American Visceral Leishmaniasis (AVL) is a disease caused by protozoa transmitted by dipteran insects that infect animals and humans, clinical manifestations can vary from mild to severe, inducing death. In Presidente Prudente, the LVA is being rapidly disseminated among the canine population, with notification of imported cases and indigenous, which intensifies the severity of the disease. Faced with this problem, there is the need of using GIS to locate, identify, predict and produce risk maps of the critical points of the disease, which is a topic of great relevance for the development of the Geography of HealthIn this work, we intend to develop a geographic database of AVL, with census data and canine serological surveys prepared by the Center for Zoonosis Control (CCZ), Instituto Adolfo Lutz (IAL) and Superintendency of Endemic Disease Control of the State of Sao Paulo (SUCEN). This information will apply for geo-referenced techniques spatial statistics and Geostatistics, to indicate the intensity patterns and locations of the focus and producing the estimate of the disease through the variables. The information gathered through the use of GIS tools are elementary for the prevention and control of disease, since the entities responsible for health in Presidente Prudente (CCZ, SUCEN and IAL) is maintained in partnership with the Faculty of Science and Technology / University Estadual Paulista (FCT / UNESP), can take ownership of results, techniques and methodologies used in this study to put in place control plans, ensuring better quality of Public Health of the municipality.
