Abstract

Bone resorption and pneumatization of the maxillary sinus after the loss of teeth in the posterior maxilla, associated with low bone density in this region, offer an inappropriate location for the installation of dental implants. The correction of bone defects is alloplastic implants or bone grafting can replace the restoration of lost structures. The autogenous bone is considered the "gold standard" in bone grafts because of its osteogenic, osteoconductive, and osteoinductive properties. However, it has disadvantages such as morbidity at the donor site, the possibility of vascular-nerve injury, unpredictable resorption, and increased surgical time. As a result, many researchers seek to develop alloplastic materials to replace bone in reconstructions. The Beta-Tricalcium Phosphate (Chronos ® - Synthes - Rio Claro / SP) is a synthetic bone substitute, biocompatible, osteoconductive, available in the form of granules, which can be used in the maxillary sinus lifting. This study aims to compare the maintenance of volume reconstruction achieved with the elevation of the maxillary sinus floor using autogenous bone or Beta-Tricalcium Phosphate (Chronos ® - Synthes) through tomographic analysis.(AU)
