Abstract

This project aims the synthesis, characterization and technological applications of nanostructured systems of manganites doped with copper. For this end, we will study the structural and magnetic properties of La0,825Sr0,175Mn1-mCumO3 nanoparticles synthesized by sol gel method. The synthesis parameters will be correlated to the characteristics of nanoparticles produced, in order to improve their quality in relation to the known bulk samples in the literature, and evaluate their applicability in technology area. Among the technological applications, we plan to verify the efficiency of the nanoparticles synthesized in construction of magnetic refrigerators and thermomagnetic devices. This project aims also to develop manganites in the nanometer range to improve the properties of these materials by adjusting the magnetic and structural transition temperature to obtain the maximum magnetocaloric effect near to room temperature. The characterization of nanosystems obtained will be carried out with respect to the morphology, structure and magnetic properties by different techniques.(AU)
