Relationship between global solar radiation and banana's development

Abstract

Solar radiation is one of the most important meteorological variables that affect the banana´s production cycle. Recent studies indicate that the duration of the banana´s cycle of is directly related to the frequency of days with clouds, partly cloudy and open. The work will be developed at UNESP Campus of Registro / SP during the years 2012 and 2013. Will be used 10 plants of AAA banana cultivar and 10 AAB banana cultivar. The database of solar radiation will be obtained via web by CIIAGRO, being processed to calculate the clearness index. The fitometric database for the varieties will be represented by measurements of plant height, leaf emission, leaf number, stem diameter at 10 cm and total production. The database of radiation is related to the database fitométrico to determine: 1) The estimative of growth, development and production of culture as a function of cumulative global radiation in the terrestrial surface; 2) The relationship between the frequency of the sky covert with the duration cycle of banana production in the periods: from planting until the first sucker, from planting to flowering, from planting to harvest and between production cycles. The obtained results allow quantifying the effects that solar radiation causes in the production cycle of the banana crop in the city of Registro / SP to optimization in the production. (AU)
