The high-rate anaerobic reactors such as UASB reactors, have been frequently used for treatment of brewery wastewater by requiring small area of deployment. Although they have good efficiency in the degradation of soluble compounds due to the low hydraulic detention time, these settings reactors have little action on the degradation of volatile suspended solids tributaries. Thus, in order to maximize the production of biogas through the brewery effluent treatment, intended to separate the suspended solids in primary sedimentation and make your anaerobic digestion in a digester suitable for this purpose. In this context, this project has as main objective to evaluate the kinetics of anaerobic degradation of primary sludge wastewater brewery, investigating the kinetic parameters of batch digesters in order to obtain the ideal operating conditions to maximize biogas production during the anaerobic digestion process. To do this, it is necessary to know the ideal operating conditions of the digesters and the kinetics of degradation of these solids. The experiments are carried out in flasks-reactors, which are kept in a chamber heated to 35 ° C in a shaker. The medium present in each vial is a mixture of anaerobic sludge from UASB reactor (inoculum), primary sludge and brewery effluent liquid phase of the same industrial effluent. The wastewater that will be studied have values of 7500 mg DQO.L-1-one SST.L 3200 mg, 80 mg NTK.L-1 and 10 mg .L-1-PO4. Experimental research will be divided into three stages, distinguished by concentration of sludge inoculum used in the reactors, respectively, 5%, 10% and 20% by weight. In all steps are evaluated in parallel with different ratios of solid / liquid ranging from 0% to 40% by weight. We will analyze the Specific Methanogenic Activity (SMA) and the byproducts of the degradation for each condition in order to evaluate the performance of the process in biogas production, degradation of volatile solids and COD reduction final. The data obtained will be worked to obtain the kinetic curves of substrate degradation and bio-gas, obtaining at the end of the study the kinetic equations that represent the kinetic model of anaerobic digestion of wastewater studied.
