Faced with the difficulties of germination, seed dormancy, heterogeneity and the delay in starting production in seedlings via seeds, vegetative propagation is a fast and effective method of seedling production of tamarind. Therefore, the objective of this work is to investigate the efficiency of the cutting and layering in the production of seedlings of tamarind (Tamarindus indica L.). Will be tested the effectiveness of rooting cuttings, softwood and hardwood, subject to a control and five concentrations of IBA (0, 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 mg L-1) at different sampling times (winter, spring, summer and fall) in polypropylene boxes filled with vermiculite medium texture and placed in a nursery with display of propylene with 50% shade with intermittent spot spraying, maintaining a relative humidity 70-80% in a randomized design, and 3 x 5 factorial arrangement with four replications of ten cuttings per plot. Will also be assessed the effect of four substrates (compost, sphagnum, bagasse and coconut fiber fine texture) on rooting of air layers made during the spring and summer, they received five IBA concentrations (0, 500, 750, 1.000 and 1.250 mg.L-1) in a completely randomized factorial scheme 4 x 5 with four replications and ten air-layers each plot.
