The objective of this study is to evaluate the ability of ²-acids of hops in maintaining the balance of intestinal microbiota of broilers after experimental challenge with Eimeria sp. For this purpose, 1800 chicks day-old will be housed in floor pens in a experiment from 1 to 42 days of age. The experiment will be conducted in randomized complete block design, with 6 treatments and 6 replicates of 50 birds per pen. The treatments will be: T1: birds not challenged and feed without additive; T2: birds not challenged and feed with 55 ppm bacitracin methylene disalicylate (BMD); T3: birds challenged and feed without additive; T4: birds challenged and feed with 55 ppm BMD; T5: birds challenged and feed with 60 ppm of hops beta-acids; T6: birds challenged and feed with 240 ppm of hops beta-acids. At 14 days of age, the birds of treatment 3 to 6 will be challenged orally with a anticoccidial vaccine containing oocysts of Eimeira sp. at 10 times the recommended dose. At 14 (before inoculation), 21 and 35 days of age, 1 bird of each experimental unit will be sacrificed for collection of the mucosa of the duodenum, ileum and cecum. The DNA of the composite sample will be extracted and the specific fragments of the rDNA region V1-V3 16s representing the microorganisms of the domain Bacteria will be amplified. DGGE technique, which assesses the changes in the structure of the intestinal community, and real-time PCR, to measure three major components of the microbiota of broilers (Lactobacillus, Clostridium and Escherichia coli) will be performed. The performance (WG, FI and FC) will be assessed weekly, through the weighing and feed, and the data will statiscally analized.
