Abstract

Insects of the family Carabidae (Coleoptera) are extremely importance for agriculture as natural enemies of insect pests. However, little is known about the feeding preference of beetles. This study aims to evaluate the influence of plants herbaceous flowering in the feeding biology and the possible impact such plants can provide the morphology of the digestive system of carabids. The food contents and the morphology of digestive system will be evaluated in carabid species present in colored cotton, Gossypium hirsutum L. latifolium Hutch., BRS green, herbaceous, with edges containing the species of herbaceous flowering Phacelia tanacetifolia Bentham, Lobularia maritima (L.) Tagetes erecta L. and Fagopyrum esculentum Moench.
