Abstract

This research project aims to study the magnetization dynamics of antiferromagnetic systems by time resolved X-ray magnetic scattering. The initial focus of the study will be the dynamics of the magnetic phase transition order-disorder induced by an infrared laser pulse and where the magnetic ordering will be directly probed by delayed X-ray pulses in diffraction condition at the magnetic peaks. This scientific stage will be hosted by the Time Research Group of the Advanced Photon Source (APS) of the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) that has created an advanced infrastructure for time resolved studies with X-rays. The APS operates at a nominal energy of 7 GeV and is the brightest source of X-rays of the occident and that is the reason why it has been selected as the ideal place for these type of experiments. Another outcome of this project is to use the scientific and instrumentation experience acquired during this stage to nucleate a research group in ultrafast science with X-ray at UNICAMP. (AU)
