This methodological descriptive correlational study aims at adapting the Satisfaction with Appearance Scale - SWAP to Portuguese version, and at evaluating the face validity and content equivalence semantics, convergent validity, reliability and dimensionality of the adapted version of SWAP in Brazilian burn victims. SWAP, originally proposed in English, assesses satisfaction with body image in burn patients. The adaptation process will follow the steps: translation into Portuguese by two independent translators; reaching of consensus between the two translations; assessment of the Portuguese version by a Committee of Experts; "Back-Translation" consensus version by two independent translators; obtaining of consensus; sending the final version in English for the author of the scale; at this stage, the suggested changes will be discussed with the translators; semantic analysis of the items; and pretesting of the final version. The validation step will be carried out with 140 Brazilian burn victims, adults, regardless of sex, which are assisted in the Outpatient Burn Rehabilitation at the Burns Unit of the Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto Medical School. Reliability will be assessed by internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha); the dimensionality by principal component analysis and convergent validity by comparing SWAP scores with other instruments that assess related constructs. The data will be organized in the Program of Statistical Software Package pain Social Science (SPSS) version 20.0.
