The promises of the use of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for biomedical ends clash in some difficulties. Many studies of nanotoxicology had been carried through analyzing properties of these materials in causing injuries onto alive tissues. Although the evidences of the cytotoxicity of the CNTs, also exist a great publication number of studies of biomateriais based on CNTs that support the idea of biocompatibility of the CNT. Results of our group had evidenced that the carbon nanotubes of multiple wall (MWCNT) gotten by the methodology developed for the Associated Laboratory of Sensors and Materials of the INPE had been enough to get biocompatibility. The lined up structures of MWCNT had disclosed that a lowermost contact enters the structures of the cells and the nanotopography is decisive to guarantee the bioactivity and efficiency in the growth and cellular spreading without producing effect cytotoxic. Another promising result of our group, carried through in the period of scientific initiation (process FAPESP-2009/16986-7) for the proponent of this project, showed characteristics of the cellular adhesion in substratum contends MWCNT lined up through the involved protein analysis in the adhesion mechanism, as well as, comparative study of substratum preference for proliferation and cellular viability. In this work an improvement of the properties of adhesion and cellular spreading was verified in accordance with the used substratum of CNT, with or without treatment of funcionalization with plasma of O2. However, no substratum revealed so efficient how much the substratum of Ti without CNT. This revealed that substratum of CNT, although nontoxic can provoke reactions in the cellular behavior. To go deep and better to clarify this cellular behavior, in this project it is considered analysis of the inflammatory reply of macrophages cultivated in CNT substratum and the potential of this substratum to stimulate migration of progenitor cells of bone marrow involved with the tissue repair in the organism. By this, this project should produce information useful to verify the potential of and for manufacture of these biomaterials to be used in the aid of cellular therapy based in CNT substratum.
