Abstract

The sugar cane plays key role in the Brazilian economy due to ethanol production, which is considered one of the solutions to the reduction of greenhouse gases from fossil fuels. The escalating amount of sugar cane crops within the micro region of Presidente Prudente-SP has changed the landscape and patters of land use. This project aims to attain the research training scholarship abroad offered by FAPESP (BEPE - Iniciação Científica). The main objective is to investigate remote sensing techniques to support understanding the spread of sugar cane crops over areas pasture and grassland areas. The internship program will focus on understanding procedures used for analyzing the classified images in order to investigate the dynamics of spatio-temporal changes in land use and land cover.
