Abstract

Ruminants utilize the rumen microbial fermentation for acquire energy from forages. The quantification of microorganisms responsible for degradation of cellulose and starch as a parameter for assessing the quality of the fiber that has an impact on animal performance is of great importance for the genetic improvement program of sugarcane. The objective of this study is evaluate the ecosystem ruminal of young bulls fed with either fresh or ensiled sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) with either high or low fiber digestibility on the follow parameter: 1) Quantification of rumen bacteria cellulolytic and amylolytic. Quantification of the main bacteria responsible for degradation of cellulose (Fibrobactersuccinogenes and Ruminococcus albus) and starch (Streptococcus bovis and Ruminobacter amylophilus), quantification by real time PCR to determine the effect of changing the rumen on the population of a microorganism of the total number of bacteria present in the sample of rumen contents.
