Abstract

In this project we propose a systematic investigation of the band structure and Fermi surface of two interesting classes of complex materials, the Ce-based heavy fermion systems; and the new Fe-As based intermetallic superconductos by performing angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) experiments in a collaborative work with the Prof. Dr. Juan Carlos Campuzano from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and from the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). We propose the study of the (Cd, Sn, Ga)-doped Ce2MIn8 (M = Rh, Ir) by high-resolution angle-resolved (ARPES) and 4d-4f resonant (RPES) photoemission spectroscopy as a function of the temperature and for different incident photon energies. Furthermore we will study the band structure and Fermi surface evolution for pure and (electron and hole)-doped AFe2As2 (A = Ba, Ca, Sr) high quality single crystals grown by In-flux technique by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. We propose the study of other than Co electron-doped BaFe2-xTxAs2 were T = Ru, Co, Cu and Mn in order to have a systematic study of the changes in their Fermi surface and its consequences to the onset of superconductivity in these fascinating materials.
