Institutional Scholarship Program for Future Teachers and teacher education of natural sciences: possibility for praxis in the formative process?

Abstract

The development of this research project aims to contribute to the field of teacher education, through an investigation of the Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Incentivo à Docência (PIBID) of four natural science bachelor degrees - Science, Biology, Physics and Chemistry - of Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR). The premise is that PIBID enables the development of projects based on praxis, once it provides the concrete conditions of teacher education that has been historically denied, like the partnership between university and school, the financial recognition and support through scholarship to the individuals involved, the development of training period and research in the teacher formation process. Therefore, the aim is to describe, understand and discuss the formation process of these PIBID bachelor degrees, from their epistemological foundation and the elements involved in setting up this foundation as it stands. To achieve the research's objective, the option is the qualitative research, which procedures are: documentary analysis (pedagogical project of the courses involved and the institution in which they are offered and public policies related to them; the project that guides each of PIBID/UFPR programs investigated; the final production of the students surveyed), questionnaires and semistructured interviews with the undergraduate students, basic education teachers and university teachers. With the development of this research, we intend to collaborate with the collective construction of knowledge about initial teacher education and the possibility of its foundation in praxis, so that it is possible to point to indicative proposals for the teacher's education curriculum development.
