Histological analysis of the effect of fluoride on bone repair in mice dental alveoli with different bone densities

Abstract

Between various therapeutic proposals for osteoporosis treatment, the administration of high doses of fluoride is an alternative that still has controversies in the literature. Fluoride is highlighted by influencing the activity of osteoblasts, which are responsible for mediating the synthesis of the bone. But, the mechanism of action of fluoride on bone cells (osteoblasts, osteocytes, and osteoclasts) is not well understood. This way, this study aims to evaluate the alveolar bone repair in rats under the effect of fluoride administered in the water. This work will use four groups of strains C57BL/6J mice (total of 32) and C3H/HeJ (total of 32) for 60 days, which will receive deionized water and water with 50 ppm of fluoride. The surgical procedures will be made by extracting the upper left incisor and then the animals will be euthanized in the 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. There will be histological analysis (hematoxylin-eosin staining) by light microscopy. The statistical analysis will be done through the statistical test one-way ANOVA complemented by Tukey's test, Kruskal-Wallis test complemented by Dunn and will be at the "t" test, according to his statement (p <0.05).
