Abstract

This doctorate's project aims to investigate the territorialization of capital (ALFREDO, 2005) in the sugarcane industry of São Paulo, in the twenty-first century, determined by financial capital seeking for valorization. This will allow us to compare the differentiation of areas of the standards of funding - both in modernization of the Brazilian state, and the private financial sector - in its relationship with the agricultural productive capital, from Proálcool to the present moment in order to understand the changes occurring in the critical forms of capital accumulation, in its fictional moment (KURZ, 1999) - given the possibility of continuity "rollover" of debt to insolvency. The analysis of the historical process of such a contradiction with the economic politics of the State for the agro-industry should go through "deregulation" and securitization of debt in the 1990s, to reach new cycle of growth and crisis under implicit subsidies, in the twenty-first century. The mechanization of cane cutting and the reducing of absolute number of workers - which promotes a reduction of the mass of surplus value (MARX, 1983) - requires us to ask if the explanation about the incorporation of ground rent to idle capital is relevant to territorialization of the movement of capital, today, when financial speculation in commodities and land, add to the rising price of land, redevelop the ground rent as a category, and determines the modernization of the sector. Field research with workers and former cane cutters, who are on the verge of unemployment will aim to understand how these are inserted at today's crisis of society work (KURZ, 1999).
