Changes in land use, especially those associated with agricultural activities that eliminate the natural vegetation cover, cause imbalance in the natural system of a watershed, resulting in conditions of predispose to the risk of soil erosion by the action of runoff water rain. In this context, the cover has an important role in that provides a natural protection against the negative effects caused by erosion. In view of the high economic importance of cane sugar, especially in the Paulista scene, and all of its effects on the environment as well as the advent of the geotechnology, is imminent the need for studies aimed at evaluating the factor protector of culture in terms of soil loss as well as application of methodological procedures for data extraction to evaluate the coverage / soil management from remote sensing data, helping in this way, not only the scientific community, but also farmers and planners. Given the above, the main objective of this proposal is to apply a methodological procedure which allows the determination of the degree of coverage of the culture of cane sugar in terms of loss of soil through remote sensing products, to support the modeling of soil erosion. In terms of theoretical approach, this proposal will be developed from the perspective of raciocio systemic, using techniques such as remote sensing and GIS. It is expected that the results contribute as methodological procedure with greater precision in the development of models of erosion of soil in water basins, in that the cover factor / soil management will is obtained from the spectral analysis of vegetation.
