Poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) are polymers containing one or more common ionic liquids' ionic groups associated to the monomeric unit. This class of materials presents properties of ionic liquids, like: electrochemical and thermal stability and conductivity, as well as from the polymer resulted from the monomers used, like: mechanical stability. This project has as objectives the use of PILs in different applications related to electrochemical devices:1)Use as polyelectrolytes in energy storage and conversion devices: PILs present limited conductivity values; however, it is possible to obtain mixtures of these materials with ionic liquids in different proportions, being possible to obtain gel polyelectrolytes with good conductivity values for this kind of application. 2)Graphene stabilization: Graphene in a promising material in order to obtain its maximum efficiency, it is necessary to maintain its layers as isolated as possible when they are immobilized on the current collector. PILs can be used as stabilizer and, in addition, act as ionic conductor among the different graphene layers.3)PEDOT stabilization: PEDOT is commonly used as a composite with poly(stirenesulphonate) (PSS) due the fact of being non soluble in almost all solvents. PILs are a good alternative to PSS, which presents issues related with its high acidity.
