Features of the Dance as Language: Henrique Rodovalho's "no Singular"

Abstract

The possibility of communication by means of dancing is treated in this research as a constructive process within a system of signs, organized, both intentionally and unintentionally, through the work of choreographers. The analysis and classification of these signs and their signification is intended to shed light on some conventional methods of artistic communication in contemporary choreographic works.To contrast the theoretical incursions, the observation of a practical object - the works of Brazilian choreographer Henrique Rodovalho - allows not only the application of the concepts and parameters raised theoretically, but also suggests new ones, in a double feedback through which the dance practice is analyzed and systematized through theory, as the theory encounters its own understanding through the possibilities of dance practice.
