Abstract

This work intends to carry out an assessment of the accessibility of cyclists using a geographic information system dedicated to transportation planning, a GIS-T, in which to develop the network of flows, calculate the accessibility indices and analyze the results spatially, resulting in an overview of accessibility and quality of the cycling path on the campus of UNESP in Bauru. After this review will suggest a correction for mitigation of any situations of discomfort or risk to users of bicycles at this location. In a preliminary analysis of the situation of the road system within the campus of UNESP in Bauru, emphasis was placed on the issue of infrastructure - roads, parking pockets - for motor vehicles to the detriment of non-motorized and pedestrians. The roads are spacious, with regular asphalt, with no sharp curves, and parking lots are placed in strategic places surrounding the buildings. These characteristics are encouraged traffic vehicles, which facilitate modern life, but if used consistently lead to environmental and personal problems. Pollution, chaotic traffic, accidents, and ill health, can be minimized by shifting to more sustainable modes of transport such as cycling. Encouraging the use of bicycles is given by the supply of urban structures favorable to its use. The bicycle is an economic transportation mode, healthy and compact, with simple changes in infrastructure, mobility can enable a pleasant one. In the next project or even a possible renewal of this, we intend to evaluate the conditions of access to campus by bicycle, at least from student housing to their destinations within the campus of UNESP Bauru.(AU)
