Abstract Our main goal is to characterize the statistics of finite-time Lyapunov exponent for continuum-time systems presenting strange attractors. Lorenz, Rossler, and Chua systems are typical examples in the literature. We also want to determine numerically the behavior of the second moment as a function of total integration time. We expect it to decrease since, for ergodic systems, its asymptotic value must be zero. Besides, we want to investigate the statistics of the maximum values obtained for the finite-time exponent to characterize its extreme value statistics. (AU) | |
