Abstract

For a long time the treatment for edentulous patients was the making of complete denture. These prostheses restore the function and aesthetics to the patient, inserting it into the social life. However, this treatment has several limitations, mainly in the mandibular rehabilitation, such as lack of retention and stability, discomfort, insecurity in the diet, decreased self-esteem. The literature shows some variations in planning overdentures. Can be retained for 2, 3 or more implants, splints or not, and can also have multiple types of attachment systems. The behavior of systems is fairly non-splints described in the literature. However, splints systems have a different biomechanical behavior, may influence a successful prosthesis. The aim of this study is to analyze the durability and strength retention of two systems for attachment overdentures on implants. The systems will be analyzed attachments: bar / clip systems and associated bar / clip and ball / O-ring.
