Abstract

Concrete is a material widely used in civil structures, mainly, due to its high mechanical resistance to compression efforts and its easy application. The design of concrete structures is limited mainly by its resistance to traction, which is approximately ten percent of its resistance to compression, with brittle fracture. In recent years several experimental studies have demonstrated the beneficial effect of adding steel fibers to the primary reinforcement of the concrete, it became a subject of great technological interest, mainly because the fibers reduce characteristic brittle concrete which behaves as a pseudo-ductile material. This work aims to help in the study of the addition of steel fibers in concrete structures, by computer modeling of such material when subjected to various types of requests. Software available in the research group will be used (ATENA, FEMOOP, etc.) that already have the appropriate constitutive models to represent the behavior of such material or which is being implemented by students graduate and need to be tested by analysis of various structures. With the numerical analysis via the finite element method for concrete structures reinforced with steel fibers, It is hoped a better understanding of the behavior structure of this material, especially in the larger requests and redistributive capacity of efforts provided by different rates of addition fibers.(AU)
