Behavioral and neuronal effects induced by forced interval treadmill training with high speed or duration, post-bilateral encephalic anóxia in gerbils

Abstract

This work aims to analyze the behavioral, histological, and morphological effects, after forced interval march training, with high speed or duration on the treadmill, in gerbils who have global brain ischemia bilateral. Will be used 108 gerbils, divided into nine groups (n = 12) CG (Control Group), GCE15 (Control Group Stimulated 15 minutes), GCE30 (Control Group Stimulated 30 minutes), GS (Group Sham), GSE15 (Group Sham Stimulated 15 minutes), GSE30 (Group Sham Stimulated 30 minutes), Ginette (Group Ischemia non-stimulated), GIE15 (Group Encouraged ischemia 15 minutes) and GIE30 (Group Encouraged ischemia 30 minutes). After the surgical procedures in groups GINE, GIE15, GIE30, the animals will have both carotid arteries exposed and occluded for 5 minutes. The group GS, and GSE15 GSE30 have stopped the procedure before occlusion. The animals in groups GCE15, GCE30, GSE15, GSE30, GIE15, and GIE30 will be submitted to motor stimulation in day intervals, beginning 24 hours after the ischemic event. The experiment will take a period of five days, the animals will be submitted to exercise in the first, third, and fifth days. The groups, GSE15, GIE15, and GCE15 will receive stimulation for 15 minutes at a high speed (15 meters/minute), and the groups GCE30, GSE30 GIE30 and receive 30 minutes of stimulation with a standard speed of 10 meters/minute. On the sixth day will be collected the data from the balance and motor behavior of animals, and will be mounted on slides for histological analysis of the hypothalamus, striatum, and motor area M1.(AU).
