Abstract

This proposal includes a numerical and methodological research on the effects of stress triaxiality and J vs. CTOD relationships in SE(T) specimens with applications to the assessment of defects in pipelines and risers containing circumferential defects. The focus of this work is in agreement with the research conducted by the Center of Advanced Fracture Mechanics and Structural Integrity of the PNV-EPUSP for the development of a methodology for analysis and evaluation of structural integrity of pipelines and risers for production and transport of oil and gas. The main objective is to investigate and implement the methodologies J-Q and J-A2 in a more realistic assessment of defects, applicable to the structural integrity of the risers installed by reeling method. Additionally, it includes the study and development of more accurate and appropriate relations between the J Integral and CTOD in SE(T) specimens fixed by pins and clamped.The goal is to provide a comprehensive set of expressions between J and CTOD for these configuration to allow the determination of resistance curves CTOD-R curvesfrom J-R.
