Abstract

The project will be developed during the crop years 2011/12 and 2012/13 in the experimental area of Education, Research and Extension Farm of the Universidade Estadual Paulista, located in the city Selvíria (MS). The soil type is Dark Red Latosol eutrophic epi-alic and clayey, originally under cerrado vegetation. The average annual rainfall is 1.330 mm, the average annual temperature is 25 º C and relative humidity average of 66%. The project will consist of three sub-projects involving soil management systems, nitrogen levels and presence or absence of seed inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense on the cover crops millet (subproject 1), crotalaria (subproject 2) and consortium millet + crotalaria (subproject 3). The aim will be to evaluate the effect of seed inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense in different production systems of upland rice, the possibility of reduction in nitrogen topdressing through biological nitrogen fixation and increase production efficiency in upland rice no-tillage systems.
