Abstract

The aim of this research project is to seek for new physical phenomena in the interface between General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics in light of Quantum Information Theory. During the project we will be interested in problems related to coherence and decoherence, entanglement and information in physical systems under the influence of space-times with non-trivial causal structures, like event horizon and curvature, and the connection between these concepts and the state of motion of the observers. In particular, we intend to study situations in which the role of the source of decoherence is played by quantum fields, by the curvature of the background space-time, or even by the state of motion of the measurement apparatus. These questions are also interesting from the point of view of the foundations of the quantum theory, since in the last decades the concept of decoherence has been improved our understanding about the Measurement Problem in Quantum Mechanics.
