Abstract

The project discusses the strategies that the editorial design can use to encourage children in the pre-literacy through the practice of reading the children's book alternative. The book-object and pre-book are two examples of books unconventional, often proposing alternative formats and materials. These books value non-verbal language, they are made for children who do not know or are learning to read. The purpose is that the child comes into contact with the sensuous form of the book in an easy, dynamic and profitable. These strategies seek to meet the interests of the child and their educational growth and development, intellectual, emotional, and physical. The relationship between the child and children's book seeks to establish reading habits that will stay later when the reader is able to perform the reading of verbal texts, this habit can be perceived during various stages of life. More specifically, the project should define - through its theoretical, methodological, and technical characteristics, such as research with children still illiterate - some children's attitudes towards these books so that it can improve the relationship with the book user and also enrich the field of Design. Effective communication between the child and the book will make a habit of reading becomes a habit in adulthood, and so the goal will be evidenced during various phases of life, not just in childhood.(AU)
