The goal of the present project is obtain derivatives from Kaurenoic Acid (KA), a diterpene found in high amounts in the leaves of Mikania glomerata, which is associated with several biological activities, including its antifungal properties. The structural modifications in the chemical skeleton of KA will be performed by biotransformation processes using two different microorganisms, Aspergillus terreus and Penicillium brevicompactum. The obtained metabolites will be evaluated against a panel of phytopathogens responsible for serious agricultural diseases. Moreover, the inhibitory effect on rat aorta contraction of these metabolites will also be investigated. (AU)
