Abstract

Smart-grids are the new generation of electrical power systems, in which various different areas of technology are combined to produce better services with an environmental awareness of the ongoing reduction of natural resources. Advances in computation technology combined with communications, distributed process and artificial intelligence are expected to be applied to power systems management and control, distribution of electrical energy, distributed generation control and so on. This new operating philosophy differs significantly from the current system and opens an interesting possibility of research, specially for the development and application of multiagent systems. Particulary, this research work will aim at the control of power distribution systems, with multiagent systems starting with the enhancement of the system operation regarding voltage control and power losses. This research will result in new multiagent models and techniques with the aim for application in real cases.
